National Park Costa Rica – Bat Island
Santa Rosa National Park, in Spanish the Parque Nacional Santa Rosa, is a national park, in Guanacaste Province, northwestern Costa Rica. It was the first national park established in Costa Rica, created in 1971. Part of the national park is the maritime zone Islas Murciélagos or Bat Islands. These are probably one of the most exciting places for advanced divers in Costa Rica.
One of the highlights are the face to face encounters with massive bull-sharks, up to 12ft/3.5m. Located around 30 miles/45 km north-west from Playas del Coco, at the most outward west-tip of the Santa Rosa National Park. The season for Bat Islands trips is from May to end of September. With our boats it´s one hour to get there. These dive sites are advanced due to surge, stronger currents and rougher surface conditions.
